The government has further directed that schools conduct summative assessment exams for the 8th grade starting from the 2024-25 academic year, with this schedule to be maintained in future sessions.
According to the official order, Principal Secretary of the School Education Department, Suresh Kumar Gupta, specified that the previous academic calendar—November-December session—will be restored for the Kashmir region and winter zone of Jammu.
The order states that classes 1st to 9th will now follow the November-December academic calendar, with exams scheduled for November-December 2024.
For students in classes 10th to 12th, the restoration of the November-December academic session will take effect from the 2025-26 academic year.
As an interim measure, JKBOSE will conduct the 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade exams starting February 15, 2025, and wrap up by the end of March.
Regarding the 8th standard, Gupta’s order specifies that from the 2024-25 session onward, schools will manage the annual summative assessments for class 8, setting a consistent framework for these exams.
