Heavy Rainfall Expected in J&K; Residents Advised to Prepare for Flooding

Srinagar, August 13: The weather department has issued a detailed forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting significant rainfall and thundershowers over the coming days.

Today, brief periods of rain or thundershowers are expected in various isolated locations across the region. As the weather pattern evolves, tomorrow will bring light rain to scattered areas in the Kashmir Division, while the Jammu Division is likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers, particularly in the late night and early morning hours.

On August 15, early morning will see light to moderate rain or thundershowers in many parts of the Jammu Division, with brief spells of light rain or thundershowers anticipated in isolated locations in the Kashmir Division during early morning and evening.

From August 16 to 19, the region can expect light to moderate rain or thundershowers in several areas.

In light of these forecasts, the weather center has issued a precautionary advisory. Rainfall activity is anticipated to intensify in the Jammu Division starting August 14, with potential for intense showers and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and falling rocks in vulnerable areas. Additionally, there could be waterlogging in low-lying areas and rising water levels in the Tawi River and other flood channels in the Jammu Division.
