J&K Govt Restores Previous Academic Calendar (November-December Session), Download Order Copy Here

Jammu and Kashmir, November 6, 2024 – The Government of Jammu & Kashmir has announced the restoration of the previous academic calendar, reverting to the November-December session for schools in the Kashmir region and the winter zone of Jammu.

This decision follows the Council of Ministers’ approval of Decision No. 005/02/2024, dated October 30, 2024.In the academic year 2024-25, classes 1 to 9 will follow the November-December session, with examinations scheduled to be held during these two months.

This change aims to align the academic activities in these regions with the previous session structure.For students in classes 10 to 12, the academic session will shift to the November-December schedule starting from the academic year 2025-26. However, for the current academic year, the Jammu & Kashmir Board of School Education will conduct exams for these classes from February 15, 2025, to the end of March 2025, before fully transitioning to the revised schedule next year.

Additionally, starting from the 2024-25 academic session, the annual examination (summative assessment) for class 8 will be conducted by individual schools, ensuring consistency with the new academic calendar.The order was issued by Suresh Kumar Gupta, IFS, Principal Secretary to the Government, on November 6, 2024.

Copies of the order have been circulated to the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, the Commissioner/Secretary to the General Administration Department, and the Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir.
